Kanye West has the hots for TV reality star Kim Kardashian. And she does not seem immune to his attentions. The couple attended billionaire Ron Burkle’s after-party for Jay-Z and West’s “Watch the Throne” concert in Los Angeles this week. And a bystander said the hip-hop artist and the reality star looked like they wanted to do much more than just talk at the exclusive soiree.
“Kanye was eating Kim up like she was a piece of cake,” said the source. “He was all over her – caressing her head, touching her waist. I think he was dying to kiss her, but there were too many people in the room.”
The New York Daily News reported that Kardashian attended the concert with her family. During the show, West greeted the family, but he zeroed in on Kim only at the after-party. “He wouldn’t talk to anybody else,” the source said. “And she was totally into it.” One might have thought she would wait until her divorce from Kris Humpries had been finalised before getting up close and personal with someone else.

Wu-Tang Clan member RZA sat down in a recent interview to talk about Kanye West, expressing that his work ethic is unlike any rapper he has ever witnessed. During RZA’s speech for the Red Bull Academy, the American Grammy winning producer touched base on his recent collaboration with Kanye West for his ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album. Not surprisingly, it turns out Kanye has an unprecedented work ethic that allows him to achieve such great levels of success.
RZA started off the conversation by breaking down Yeezy’s morning routine. ”I’ma tell you something this young man does. They get up every morning to eat breakfast together, his whole crew. They talk about yesterday and the next day and the present. They plan, all over breakfast. They sit there and they talk about what they gonna do, what they did and how to make the music better. Then, they go exercise together. They go to the YMCA. They play basketball, lift weights. Focus, get the energy out.”
After they get the “focused energy” flowing, RZA states that Yeezy often spends up to 12 hours in the studio making hits. “He would do some charity work…Therefore, he’s doing the good deed of the day as well, good karma. Then, he goes to the studio. He stays there from 4pm and when I was there, we left at 4. So, 12 hours of in-studio work. Then he’d go to bed and do it again the next day.”

Kanye West and Jay-Z, accused of using an unauthorized sample on the hit collaboration album, Watch The Throne, responded on Thursday to a lawsuit filed by soul and blues musician Syl Johnson. In October, Johnson sued the superstar hip-hop duo, plus UMG and Def Jam, for allegedly taking a portion of his song “Different Strokes” without permission, payment, or credit.
Johnson claimed that West originally wanted to use the sample for his own solo album entitled My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but that the defendant was unable to obtain permission at the time of release. After failure to clear a license for the sample on one album, West’s use of the sample on another album without permission was said to be an example of knowing and willful misappropriation.
On Thursday, West and Jay-Z indicated how they intend to fight the lawsuit, denying much of the allegations except with the acknowledgment that their song, “The Joy,” which allegedly included Johnson’s work, was released prior to Watch The Throne and was also included on a deluxe version of the album.
The defendants challenge Johnson’s standing in bringing the case, question whether Johnson’s sound recording is protected by federal copyright since it was made before 1972 (when the law soon changed to cover sound recordings), and suggest they may have had license to use it.
West and Jay-Z also won’t admit that they used Johnson’s song, but believe that even if they did, they are protected from the plaintiff’s allegations. According to the their Answer, filed by attorney Carrie Hall:
“Any claim based on the alleged use of Plaintiffs’ recording is is barred because, inter alia, (a) the allegedly copied portion of the Plaintiff’s recording is not part of the musical composition; and, if it is part of the composition, (b) is not protectable and/or (c) any use was de minimus.”
Last week, Johnson was nominated for two Grammy Awards for best historical album and best liner notes, but told Billboard that it “should have been three,” referring to his contributions to the Grammy-nominated Watch The Throne.
“[Kanye] said he wanted to meet with me and apologize – since I sued him — but I didn’t sue him to be smart,” added Johnson. “I sued him because that’s the right thing to do man. I’m a musician.”
